This past year, Canadians have relied on websites and apps for everyday tasks more than ever before. So it’s not surprising that those with disabilities, especially visual impairments, have faced additional challenges in this new reality we’ve been living in.

We recently teamed up with Fable and spoke with 55 Canadians to get their take on web accessibility in 2021. In this video, Siteimprove Canada's Vice President, Mike Cart, shares some of the findings. 

The top three issues survey respondents reported were:

  1. Difficulty navigating a website with a keyboard
  2. Forms were not labelled clearly
  3. ‘Alt text’ not included with images

Creating an accessible website isn’t something that happens overnight, but when we consider that 22% of Canadians aged 15 or older are living with a disability and potentially facing these barriers on your website right now, it’s not something any business can afford to ignore.
